Built in the Edwardian era by members of the Hope family, Whitney Court remains with them to this day. As custodians the family have ensured that the court has been sympathetically maintained to remain true to it's original character.

Court Facilities

The Great Hall

The ceiling of the Great Hall bears the coats of arms of the Hope Family, who remain the owners of the Court to this day. This sense of history and times gone by is echoed in the grand staircase, oak panels and furnishings of the Great Hall, creating just the right atmosphere for ceremonies, corporate presentations, discussions and after dinner dancing. On a practical note, there is plenty of room for your seating arrangements. After the formalities, it’s time to clear the tables, bring in the musicians or DJs and take to the dance floor.

The Red Dining Room

The Adam-style Red Dining Room can be set up for dinners or break out meetings or furnished as a quiet sitting area where guests can enjoy a more peaceful atmosphere during a function.

The Double Drawing Room

The Double Drawing Room, which comprises the Library and Main Drawing Room (combinable into one huge space) offers wonderful views across the Wye Valley and is beautifully furnished to create an impressive reception or dining area. The room will accommodate up to 132 dining guests at round tables or 60 meeting participants at long tables. This delightful room has opens directly onto the grassy terraces where guests may also be entertained.

The Guest Rooms

Whitney Court has sleeping accommodation for up to 22 guests with four magnificent Great Rooms and seven others, sumptuous furnishings, abundant character and atmosphere, and breathtaking views. You can book to stay for as many nights as you wish.

There are also a variety of accommodations available in the Hay-on Wye area for your other guests and to suit every taste. We can make recommendations for you or simply click here for local Tourist Board listings.
